Hoyo de Monterrey
By Abid Amiri
A light-bodied Cuban figurado with sweet, nutty, and honeyed opening notes that evolve through cedar and leather before settling into a woody, balanced close. Quintessentially Hoyo, with each flavor note present without overpowering the others.
In the Cigar DatabaseTasting progression
First third
Sweet and nutty notes with hints of honey were prevalent as the ring gauge widened. Fairly pleasant to retrohale given the light strength and sweet character of the cigar.
Second third
Cedar and leather began blending in with the sweetness from the opening third. Honey remained present and integrated nicely with the woody flavors.
Final third
Sweetness faded for the most part as leather and cedar became the dominant duo. Still an extremely pleasant, enjoyable smoke through the finish.
Final Verdict
Quintessentially Hoyo with a unique flavor profile for a light-bodied cigar. It has all the flavor notes listed without one overpowering the other in a light-bodied format.
